Meet Sneha: Clinical Psychologist in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, India

Hi, I’m Sneha from Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, India. My journey in psychology began with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from R. D. National College, University of Mumbai. I come from a close-knit family where values like motivation, hard work, and sincerity were always emphasized. These values have guided me throughout my career.

Education and Training

During my Master’s program, I gained valuable experience through three key internships:

  • Thane Mental Hospital: At Thane Mental Hospital, I learned how to diagnose and assess various psychological conditions. This hands-on experience helped me understand how to manage different mental health issues effectively.
  • Cooper Hospital: My role at Cooper Hospital involved working with patients dealing with a range of psychological problems. I was responsible for diagnosing these issues and planning appropriate treatments.
  • LTMG Sion Hospital: At LTMG Sion Hospital, I further developed my skills in diagnosing psychological disorders and conducting assessments. This internship was crucial for my growth as a Clinical Psychologist.

In addition to these internships, my coursework covered:

Personality Psychology

Studying how different personality types affect behavior.

  • Research Methodology: Learning how to conduct and analyze research, which is essential for understanding psychological practices.
  • Statistics: Understanding statistical methods for interpreting research data and assessments.
  • Behavior Therapy: Techniques for changing harmful behaviors and promoting healthier habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Methods for addressing negative thought patterns that impact emotions and actions.
  • Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT): Strategies for challenging and changing irrational beliefs that lead to emotional issues.

Work Experience

I have worked in various settings, each contributing to my professional development:

  • Clinical Psychologist at Cathena Education: Here, I worked with children facing neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD, Intellectual Disabilities, and communication issues. My role involved assessing these children and creating treatment plans to support their growth.
  • Clinical Psycho-Oncologist at HCG Cancer Care: At HCG Cancer Care, I provided emotional support to cancer patients and their families. This role taught me the importance of psychological care in the context of severe illness.
  • Behavioral Counsellor at Orchids International School: In this role, I helped students manage behavioral and emotional issues, including academic stress and relationship challenges. This position emphasized the value of early intervention and support for young people.

Advanced Training and Continuous Learning

To stay updated and enhance my skills, I completed a Psychotherapies Training Program from Psyched Research Foundation. This online program offered advanced training in various therapeutic approaches.

I am also pursuing a Counselling Psychology Diploma and training in Psychometric Assessment Tools from Indian Counselling Services. These programs are helping me keep pace with the latest developments in psychology and improve my assessment skills.

Passion for Psychology

My fascination with psychology stems from a deep interest in understanding human behavior and mental health. I am particularly intrigued by abnormal psychology, which explores unusual behaviors and mental conditions. This interest motivates me to help people address and overcome their psychological challenges.

In my practice, I value being open-minded, loyal, patient, ethical, and skilled in problem-solving. These qualities are essential for building strong relationships with clients and providing effective therapy.
